Having recently made the very cool discovery that one of my favorite 80s bands was still going strong, I picked up two Alphaville albums in fairly short order. (And they’re both amazing!) It’s always interesting when a band challenges you a little, especially from a literary perspective.
One of these albums, “Prostitute” (which is so titled because of the band’s feelings toward the music industry at the time, not because of it’s content!), has a song called “Iron John”, which made no sense to me until I read (in an interview) that it refers to the fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm, Der Eisenhans. I guess I need to read more Brothers Grimm.
